Furmark 1.8.2 and ATI Hybrid CrossfireX
« on: June 09, 2010, 10:09:38 AM »
Hi all,

this is my first post, so please be gentle.  ::)

I would like to use Furmark 1.8.2 to check the functionality of a Hybrid CrossFireX setup (790Gx + HD3470, Catalyst 10.5): unfortunately I don't understand how to do properly so.

I've installed the 3470, changed the relevant bios settings (UMA, disabled Surround View, display IGX first), boot into Windows and then enabled CrossFireX in Catalyst CC (checking the enabling box in the relevant section), rebooted: all has gone fine, apparently.

Then I've launched FurMark 1.8.2 Multi-GPU: it's stated "videocard ATI Radeon HD 3300"... hmm... and the PCIe card? Well, I've launched a second instance of FurMark: again "videocard ATI Radeon HD 3300".

Ok, let's try and see: so I've clicked on "Go!" (60 secs Benchmarking) and got a very low 188 score (1280x1024 NO MSAA). Hhmmm...
I've rebooted, gone into the BIOS, disabled the IGP, connected the DVI cable to the HD 3470, and booted into Windows.

Here I've launched FurMark 1.8.2: it's stated "videocard ATI Radeon HD 3470": hmmm, it could be fine.
To be sure, I've double checked the Catalyst CC, there's no (more) CrossFire section available, so I guess the IGP is actually disabled.

Therefore I've re-ran that 60 secs benchmarking, with the very same settings: again a 188 score!
Well, it doesn't sound to me.

What has gone wrong?

Regards,
Urk

P.S.: using only the IGP give a score of 245! However I've used GPU Caps Viewer 1.8.6 to check the hardware and it sees two adapter and crossfire enabled, while Catalyst CC in  the "Information Center/Graphics hardware" see the HD3470 as disabled. I can't understand...
