Disappearing donut in Furmark
« on: April 14, 2010, 11:57:12 PM »
Hi. I just built a new machine with an ATI Radeon 5850. I've ran the stablity tests in windowed mode for approx 30 minutes with no issues. I then decided to run the stability test in full screen and walked away from the computer for approx 20 minutes. When I returned and looked at the screen, the donut was gone but all the other elements of the test were still there, IE the dragon, the watery effects etc. The temp graph showed the temperature dropping drastically and the framerates were skyrocketing, which obviously indicates the GPU was no longer being driven heavily.

Since this is a new computer with a new card, I need to know if this was just a hiccup or is there something wrong with my system. Thanks for the help, and thanks for Furmark!

Thanks for this report. Interesting... That may explain some very high scores I see in FurMark scores page.

Did you manage to reproduce this... bug ?

No, I haven't attempted to reproduce it. I completely forgot about it. :) I will try to remember to do it next time I am on that computer. Anything specific you want me to log or test?

I don't know, anything that could help me:
- furmark log file
- GPU Caps Viewer screenshot (first tab)
- GPU-Z screenshot  (first tab)
- if no screenshot, please post: exact graphics card model + vendor, driver version, operating system and SP version, desktop resolution, GPU temperature when the bug occurs, PSU power, etc...

Use the new FurMark 1.8.2 for testing:

I don't think your new system is the source of the problem.
Wait a minute... In stability test mode, if you hit the SPACE key, the donut rendering is stopped. Maybe someone else has used your machine...
