About 6 months ago I built my new rig. At the time I found that some games, after a little while, caused the screen t go to hash and lock up the system. In looking for solutions, I found the cards to be running hot, and upped my cooling. No help. So I also downloaded Furmark (1.6.0) and it crashed the system immediately. So I abandoned it all for a while.
Recently I discoverd that the GPU clock speed can cause this issue, so I installed EVGA Precision, slowed the cores back to stock, and ran FurMark, from 200msec up to 60seconds, all AOK. I had an issue with being locked into 4xAA, but this was just an nVidia control panel setting. Wanting to see how my scores stacked up, I checked the scores page and saw that everyone was using version 1.7, so I installed it, and later 1.6.5 as well.
The thing is, 1.7 gives me scores
half of 1.6.5!! I have SLI and PhysX enabled ... could it be that their employment in 1.7 is causing the lower score? I'd like to know, because while in games I'd like to know what settings to tweak to get the best rates.
Anybody got any ideas about this? Here's a screenshot of results, 1.6.5 and 1.7, run one after the other.
