update.

all other benchmarks like Fur or soft shadow bench seem to be not affected from any additional performance increase.

Incredible these new cat7.9! I'm going to test them with my x1950xtx...

Surface deformer bench requires lot of vertex processing horse power. Seems the cat7.9 unleashes the unified architecture of the radeon 2k  ;)

WITHOUT GOOD DRIVER, GOOD HARDWARE IS WORTHLESS!

Okay guys, updated! The new winner is purecain  ;)

The new cat7.9 are really optimized for R600 (Radeon 2900). I tested yesterday the bench with cat7.9 and the perf stay the same for my X1950XTX and my 2400pro.

For free image hosting, I create a post with useful links: http://www.ozone3d.net/smf/index.php/topic,839.0.html

Just a little question to purecain, fellix and mOOrk: you have a single Radeon 2900 or Crossfire 2900 system ?

okay thanks! This is just impressive. So we can expect higher scores (>20000) with a XFired-system!

Heck, I think we need a new "heavy duty" edition of this benchmark, with more polygons and more point lights, hell why not even a more complex transform function.  ;D
Looks like this one already is having hard time choking all the 64 super-scalar processors in R600. ;)

Good idea Fellix.  ;)
More dynamics lights and an extremely dense mesh. I'll do it asap!
