GPU PhysX compatibility tests
« on: August 06, 2008, 05:18:55 AM »
My tests have been done with 8800GTX (G80) and Geforce 177.79 & PhysX 80718

Warmonger Free Full Game - max. all settings, 1680x1050
CPU 14 fps, GPU 56 fps at "blue/red player select screen"
http://www.warmongergame.com/

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 SP Demo - max. all settings, 1680x1050
CPU 87 fps, GPU 52 fps at mission start
You can clearly see PhysX in action: the wind is way too strong, bending big trees like osier stakes
http://files.filefront.com/GRAW2+SP+DEMOexe/;7968644;/fileinfo.html

3DMarkVantage - boldly ignored

UT3 PhysX mod - i don't have the full game
http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_ut3_physxmod.html

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Carwash - no GPU PhysX support yet
http://www.fileplanet.com/187286/180000/fileinfo/PhysX-Carwash

Realitymark - no GPU PhysX support yet
http://www.chip.de/downloads/Ageia-RealityMark-1.0_22311776.html
Warning - lousy installer

CellFactor: Revolution v1.03 Free Full Game - no GPU PhysX support yet
http://www.gamershell.com/download_19042.shtml

PT Boats: Knights of the Sea benchmark - borked since PhysX 80425
http://www.pt-boats.net/

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 1 - crashes at launch, not Vista64 compatible?

Update 1
« Reply #1 on: August 07, 2008, 05:39:09 AM »

DriverHeaven reports improved games:

Mass Effect, Rainbow Six:Vegas 2 - allegedly no demos available

Medal of Honor - Airborne
Yet another mashed installer: 1) uninstall current PhysX, 2) install game incl. old PhysX, 3) install current PhysX
I can confirm the unaturally flying bodies. Remember: Actio est Reactio!

Cool topic Stefan

I'm working on a small PhysX demo/benchmark that will be available very very soon. From all tests I did, GeForce PhysX is very powerful and effective but not in some cases (rigid bodies collision).

Metal Knight Zero

The benchmark offers only 2 resolutions, you can select a custom resolution by replacing:
.\system\MetalKnightZeroClient.exe -a -graphic low
with
.\system\MetalKnightZeroClient.exe -a -resolution x
whereby x is a value between 0 and 45

Note: the intro remains in 1024x768

Tortuga: Two Treasures - crashes because of illegal memory access
Bet on Soldier Series - refuse to install on Vista64

...From all tests I did, GeForce PhysX is very powerful and effective but not in some cases (rigid bodies collision).

Just found a PhysX demo testing Rigid Bodies & Force fields - no GPU PhysX support yet
I wonder if it looks that slow because of software PhysX or using BASIC?

NeoAxis 0.57 http://www.neoaxisgroup.com/history.htm
NeoAxis updated their engine, "PhysX 2.8.1 is now supported."
Albeit you can toggle "hard/software PhysX" in their configurator, i couldn't spot a difference in either framerate or CPU usage when visiting the PhysX room in their demo.
Actually the 1st CPU core is permanently hogged.

Emergent Gambebryo demo - no GPU PhysX support
http://www.emergent.net/en/Multimedia/Demos/

PAL : BenchMark Demo - no GPU PhysX support
compares different physics engines
http://www.adrianboeing.com/pal/benchmark.html

Switchball (remember Marble Madness?) - no GPU PhysX support
http://www.switchball.com/

Now lets turn japanese:

COLLADA Physics - no GPU PhysX support
http://www.shader.jp/xoops/html/modules/mydownloads/

DynamX 1.03 - i have no clue about it's purpose
http://alphacore.jp/rmr/2008/07/19_program_283.rmr

NM256 - no GPU PhysX support
http://www.vector.co.jp/soft/dl/win95/game/se420826.html
A game where you have to push some balls and boxes, joypad mandatory
If you are bored, you could spend hours at vector.co.jp and explore the japanese homebrew game culture

Ogre "ND" - no GPU PhysX support
If i understood Google's "translation" correctly this demonstrates physically correct lip-syncing of the manga character to the music? Also the characters are reflected in a spinning cube.
Y/Z start music, ASDW camera, IJKL move, PRINT screenshot, SHIFT slow motion

I-Fluid and I-Fluid demo
Does not run under Vista64, causing some fracas at Steam forums  ::)
Runs under Xp32, no difference in framerate when enabling/disabling GPU.

Roboblitz
"Your card is insufficient to run this game" - yeah, right :gratgrat:

Sherlock Holmes - 'The Awakened'
Built with PhysX SDK 2.8.1.4, no difference in framerate when enabling/disabling GPU.
I don't know why they use PhysX at all, the terrain is static, only characters move and jiggle a bit  ???

NOMBZ: Night of a Million Billion Zombies 1.11
Built with PhysX SDK 2.7.3.8, no difference in framerate when enabling/disabling GPU.

Kran-Simulator 2009
Built with PhysX SDK 2.8.1.4, no difference in framerate when enabling/disabling GPU.

Landwirtschafts-Simulator 2008
Built with PhysX SDK 2.7.3.8, crashes under Vista 64

IrrPhysx 0.2 Game Example
Built with PhysX SDK 2.8.1.4, crashes under Vista 64

Imaginary Game Engine
crashes under Vista 64 and XP32

Legendary Demo
Built with PhysX SDK 2.8.0.7, no difference in framerate when enabling/disabling GPU.

I assume the option in BaseEngine.ini is only for ye olde AGEIA PhysX card
[Engine.Engine]
bDisablePhysXHardwareSupport=True/False

I could run it only under XP32, crashed under Vista 64.
If you are luckier, try that:
[SystemSettings]
AllowD3D10=True

Whats the point of this topic anyway ?)

All released games with GPU PhysX support are known today:
Warmonger, GRAW2, MKZ (demo), Nurien(demo), UT3, Crazy Machines 2+, Cryostasis (released in russia + benchmark) and, probably, Shadowgrounds Survivor.

other PPU/CPU PhysX titles won't recieve any benefits from GPU PhysX)

It's like your list, with comments in more.
By the way, PhysX FluidMark is not present in your list.
And Demoniak3D hasn't space between Demoniak and 3D. Anyway, nice list Zogrim  ;)

I mean, that is pointless to try all this games with GPU PhysX, since they incompatible a priori)

How can I forgot ?  :-\ Anyway, who can I indicate as Developer - ozone3d.net ? specific person ?)
